It’s amazing how easy it can be for major practice management features within\u00a0ECLIPSE to fade into obscurity as the decades roll by\u00a0\u2014 even when those features are as relevant now as they were way back in 1984.\u00a0At the time,\u00a0Karen’s rapidly growing practice was\u00a0beginning to leak patients.\u00a0Once she became aware that\u00a0a patient had stopped coming in for care,\u00a0too much time\u00a0might have\u00a0elapsed\u00a0to get the\u00a0patient\u00a0to return.<\/p>\n
Though this wasn’t an everyday event, she simply wanted an opportunity to intervene earlier —\u00a0rather than weeks or months later. So, when she enlisted my help to evaluate software for her office, she was laser focused on\u00a0a\u00a0very specific feature. She wanted software that would answer\u00a0simple questions such as:<\/p>\n
Who came in last week but hasn’t been in since?
\nWho came in last month but hasn’t been in this month?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
She had already learned on her own that she was able to better educate patients\u00a0when she\u00a0reached them earlier. Now she wanted software to help\u00a0track such patients before they were lost\u00a0to her practice. Yet, none of the nationally distributed (and very expensive) products we looked at provided this feature. She was unwilling to compromise and the companies\u00a0refused to add the report.\u00a0ECLIPSE was born as a direct result. The Trace Patient Visits<\/strong> report did exactly what she wanted and became a staple of her practice.<\/p>\nBack in the 1980’s and 1990’s many D.C.’s learned the value of this report and used it to help grow their practices. These days, perhaps its value has been buried amongst other, flashier features. Everyone thinks about social media and how to incorporate it into their marketing. Great idea! But what about keeping the patients you already have?\u00a0In the past\u00a0week alone, I’ve advised three doctors\u00a0\u2014\u00a0who separately requested\u00a0we add this capability\u00a0\u2014 of its existence. It’s there just waiting for you to take advantage of it. Because your practice isn’t just about your documentation.
