The hype never ends when it comes to company claims & paid endorsements! How do you know which way is up? Here are some interesting facts from our timeline so you can understand our consistency over decades.
In 1985, ECLIPSE® was the only product to let you instantly zero in on patients as you typed.
In 1987:
We created the concept of case management under a single ID#. Until then, health care providers had to create multiple patient files in order to track simultaneous cases such as [for example] major medical and worker’s compensation. This avoided unnecessary duplication of information and made it easier for everyone to find the right data.
Mike Norworth received doctoral level research credit in Computer Science for performance innovations developed for ECLIPSE®.
In 1988, the May/June NYSCA Newsletter - the Official Publication of the New York State Chiropractic Association - contained a review of ECLIPSE®, concluding: "It is truly an impressive system."
In 1990, we were the first vendor to submit chiropractic electronic claims to BC/BS of New Jersey..
By 1992, a growing # of unsolicited articles appeared praising ECLIPSE. This one, by Dr. Charles Rollis, referring to ECLIPSE as "Nirvana," is actually still available here on the Dynamic Chiropractic website!
In 1995:
We introduced the first nationally sold multi-user Windows program for health care. As doctors lined up at midnight to purchase Windows 95 that summer, ECLIPSE® was on their minds. ECLIPSE® was now in use in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
After a lengthy review of systems nationwide, Parker Foundation approached us and asked if they could sell ECLIPSE directly to replace their existing products. Several years later, Parker handed operations over to us and left the computer software business.
By 1997, the “Y2K” craze had begun. Offices rushed to purchase ECLIPSE because it was unaffected by the Y2K problem.
In 2000, we introduced a thoroughly rewritten 32 bit Windows program based on FairCom’s database technologies and written in C++. This allowed independent programmers to make custom changes to ECLIPSE® while maintaining the performance that helped build our reputation.
In April 2001, The Wisconsin Chiropractor – “The Official Publication of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association” – published the results of a survey. Apparently, the WCA surveyed its members with regard to the accounting & documentation software they use. Doctors were expected to use a 7 point scale to rate the various products. Several conclusions were immediately obvious:
ECLIPSE® received the most responses.
Of the responses from ECLIPSE users, 36.4% gave it a perfect score. No other product received as many 7’s. In fact, 54.6% of the responses from users gave it a 6 or above! The lowest score ECLIPSE® received was a 4. This especially stood out after seeing the 0’s, 1’s and 2’s assigned to a few competitors.
Of all the responses received, only 2 members used the word “Great” in the comments section of the survey. Both were ECLIPSE® users.
In 2003, before most HIPAA legislation went into effect, Blue Cross Blue Shield carriers across the United States arranged to do their initial certification testing with ECLIPSE® as a partner, indicating that they’d “heard though the grapevine” that our personnel “knew what you were doing” and wanted to do their initial testing with ECLIPSE®!
In October 2008, ECLIPSE® was modified to submit electronic documentation with bills in response to sweeping changes by the New York Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) that created havoc among providers & software companies. Three different submission scenarios were created by the WCB. ECLIPSE® was the only company to meet all the original deadlines and the WCB passed on one of our EC-4NARR innovations to competitors as a means of integrating this form with existing computer systems.
In July, 2011, ECLIPSE® was certified by CCHIT as a Complete EHR under ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Meaningful Use guidelines. As one of the very first products tested & certified, ECLIPSE allowed doctors to reap program rewards ($18,000 payments) immediately during the 2011 calendar year.
In 2012, The Wisconsin Chiropractor – “The Official Publication of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association” – published the results of a new EHR survey. Once again, ECLIPSE® was preferred as compared with systems that sold for many times the price. Read about the survey here.
In 2013, the North Carolina Chiropractic Association published the results of an EHR survey. ECLIPSE® was among the top few systems preferred (of 21 systems listed). And, according to the NCCA, “ECLIPSE® was strongly recommended by 71% of the people surveyed.”
In April, 2014, The Board of Trustees of The American College of Chiropractors inducted Mike Norworth & Dr. Karen Walters as Fellows at a ceremony in Seneca Falls, NY. These honorary degrees recognize their decades long contributions to the chiropractic profession via a wide ranging series of software innovations along with their ongoing roles in an educational and advisory capacity to chiropractors across the United States.
In 2019, ECLIPSE EHR Solutions built a new state-of-the-art facility in Florida as a base for its sales & technical support operations group -- providing a fully streamlined & automated process for online purchases & upgrades.
In 2021, we applied for 3 new patents & introduced new Apple & Google store apps to allow patient check-in & subjective complaint entry from a cellphone.
In 2022, we introduced the first NoSQL cloud technology for healthcare providers to leverage WASM in your browser and enable high performance web pages.
